"Akrasi GIVE combines our heart to help and serve our local communities as well as our love of the beautifully, crafted necklaces and jewelry from Accra, Ghana."

About Akrasi GIVE

From the love of Ghana comes Akrasi GIVE, an opportunity for us (Sabina, Sascha and Pamela) to show the rich history and culture of Ghanaian artisans as well as the work that they create using traditions that date back centuries.  With your purchase of one of these beautiful pieces, those traditions are being kept alive. Beaded jewelry is an integral part of Ghanaian history.  Ghana was once known as “The Gold Coast” and your family, community and political status were displayed through the types of jewelry you wore. Each of our pieces has a story to tell and it unfolds through each handmade bead and each necklace design.  We cannot wait for you to experience it for yourself.

Who We Are

Sabina Smith
Born and raised in Ghana, Sabina’s love for quality beaded jewelry was passed down from her mother who taught her from an early age how to grind beads and string them into necklaces, bracelets, and other traditional adornments.  These pieces were also worn around the calves during baby naming ceremonies; coming of age for girls; marriages, and other traditional celebrations. Sabina has lived most of her adult life in New Jersey, USA, however she continues to passionately honor her Ghanaian heritage. Sabina owned her own business for several years while caring for her three children and is now the proud grandmother of nine! Sabina’s desire to work, even in her golden years, is as strong as ever and she believes there is still much, she can offer society by creating gainful work opportunities for talented young people while giving back to society.

Pamela Carr - “Be your authentic self…”
Pamela was raised in Ghana by her grandmother until the age of 10. She then moved to America and quickly developed a passion for fashion.  Pam has a degree in Fashion Design and has over 10 years of experience working in the fashion retail, merchandising and visual merchandising industry.  Growing up in Ghana, Pamela enjoyed the many cultural rites of passages that she is now able to pass on to her children.

Sascha Frimpong – “To whom much is given, much is required”
Sascha was born and raised on the beautiful island of Barbados where her love for all things beauty and fashion blossomed from the pages of her favorite magazines.  Sascha moved to America for college but always worked in high end retail stores to stay close to beautiful clothes and jewelry ….and to pay the bills of course.  Sascha also has a heart to serve others and believes that successful businesses can help raise up communities through giving as well as job creation. Sascha is excited for this partnership that brings all her heart’s desires together in one venture.  Sascha is a wife and mother to two beautiful girls who enjoy playing dress up in mummy’s jewelry and learning all there is to know about their Barbadian- Ghanaian heritage.
